I don’t know where you are right now, but me … I’m in the middle of chaos!  We are trying to sell a house, my family is 750 miles away, I am meeting new people every day, and I’m missing old friends … all at the same time.  I am trying to establish myself as the new leader of a fairly new church while, at the same time, trying to lead that church in redefining its vision and direction.  And in the midst of all of my small issues, the economy decides to come to a halt in the middle of a heated and crucial presidential election!  Our country is in chaos, our church is in chaos, and my life is in chaos.  When I decided to step out on faith and take this new position THIS is not what I expected.

But I am learning that God works best in the chaos.  Over the last week God has shown me again and again that He prefers to work in the unexpected, and when He does, He increases my faith.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes over the last year of my life to think about:

“The most important moments rarely come at a convenient time.  The Bible is full of stories about people who were rudely interrupted by God.  We read them and long to have the kind of adventure experienced by those men and women.  Yet, when God interrupts us, are we willing to respond on a moment’s notice?”

- Erwin McManus from “Chasing Daylight”

“Sometimes taking a calculated risk means giving up something that is good so you can experience something great.”

- Mark Batterson from “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day”

“Disturb us, O Lord when we are too pleased with ourselves; when our dreams have come true because we dreamed too small; when we arrive safely because we have sailed too close to the shore.  Disturb us, O Lord”

- Sir Frances Drake

May God increase your faith through the unexpected this week.
